Hailing originally from Canberra, Australia, Mike has an MBA from University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and worked as a Financial Analyst at various dot-com startups in Sydney and London prior to heading up the analysis function for the marketing team at PartyGaming PLC. Working closely with SEO colleagues Mike Nott and Tim Webb, they soon discovered a shared ethos for problem-solving. The seeds were soon sewn for the three to forge their own path and open an agency that mirrored their personal approach to work. Mike’s goal for Ayima was to become the expert’s expert, assisting the in-house teams at big yet under-performing brands and provide a fun and intellectually challenging environment for Ayima’s staff. The company’s reputation has been built on performance & delivering solid traffic and revenues for clients.



Mike Nott

Chief Operating Officer

With a background in IT and System Administration, Mike was an early convert to SEO, working for various Media agencies in London before heading the Search Function at PartyGaming PLC at the time of their IPO on the FTSE in 2005. The technical and strategic lessons learned from that venture fed directly to the foundation of Ayima in 2007 with his colleagues, Mike Jacobson and Tim Webb. Mike has spearheaded Ayima ever since then, never losing sight of the company’s goal to deliver top-level expertise via superior technology and exceptional talent. He is also a strong proponent of providing a flexible environment in which experts can thrive, a factor that has helped Ayima grow into a prosperous international operation and develop industry-leading solutions for the SEO community.



Tim Webb

Chief Technology Officer

A degree in Linguistics followed by a MSc in Software Engineering have given Tim a unique view of programming, with an exhaustive understanding of both user intent and how best to surface relevant information. This expertise naturally manifested itself as a career in SEO, working with Mike Nott at PartyGaming, and then launching digital agency Ayima. As CTO, Tim continues to experiment with the aim of taking the guesswork out of SEO, providing Ayima consultants with tools and data that demystify Google’s complex algorithms so they’re able to confidently advise clients on the best course of action.



Rob Kerry

Chief Strategy Officer - UK

Rob Kerry is Chief Strategy Officer at Ayima, a global digital marketing agency which he co-founded in 2007. Rob has been involved in SEO for over 15 years, being one of the first UK based voices in the industry under his cheeky online handle, evilgreenmonkey. He has since created award-winning SEO teams at 3 agencies and worked in-house for the world’s largest online poker website. Rob and his team now work with brands such as Verizon, Macy’s, Reed Elsevier and British Airways, making them market leaders in search. Ayima has grown to a team of over 100 people, headquartered in London and with offices in North America, Asia and mainland Europe.



Nicky Applegarth

Managing Director - UK

With over 18 years widespread and hands on digital agency experience, Nicky has delivered industry-leading results and driven cutting-edge strategies across the full range of digital disciplines, working with numerous blue chip clients such as British Airways, O2, Vodafone, BT, Aviva, Marks & Spencer, P&O Ferries, The AA, Sky, Virgin Media, and Macmillan. As Managing Director at Ayima, Nicky has a unique view on what kind of digital marketing strategies businesses should be investing in, and how they can get tangible results from what they implement.



Michelle Dempsey

Finance Director - UK

After studying Business and Marketing, Michelle soon discovered her passion for finance, going on to study ACCA part-time, she has almost 20 years’ experience working in finance across various sectors including manufacturing, hospitality, and since 2009, marketing. Michelle has been Finance Director at Ayima since 2014, working to ensure that the finance team at Ayima meets the challenges of a growing company, from opening new offices to acquisitions to becoming a publicly listed company.



Eric Powell

VP of Operations - US

As VP of Operations at Ayima, Eric Powell combines his passion for search marketing and background in technical project and process management to drive the digital transformation of brands across a series of industries, including telecommunications, finance, retail and pharmaceuticals. With over 10 years in the digital industry, Eric specialises in helping leading Fortune 500 companies increase their business efficiency and overall market share by providing them with seamless digital marketing strategy implementation, insights and data.



Ryan Huser

VP of Search - US

Building local websites since his high school days, Ryan was drawn to the concept of SEO during the dot-com bubble. “As a kid trying to game search engines, I was so fascinated that Yahoo results seemed so much better than competitors like Lycos or Alta Vista. Once I found out Google was the reason for this, my true appreciation of their work and Backrub/PageRank theory really began.” Joining Ayima as an SEO consultant in 2011, Ryan had stints at several other global agencies before returning to Ayima as VP of Operations in 2015.



Lauren MacPhail

Senior Vice President - US

With over 10 years digital marketing experience, Lauren has developed comprehensive digital strategies for brands with a key focus on SEO, SEM, content and social integrations. Driving results through competitive and emerging trend analyses for strategic growth in fast-paced markets, Lauren brings a passion for managing large, complex digital programs with efficiency, creativity and integration to Ayima clients.



Mark Tempest

Senior Vice President - Canada

Having begun his career in 2001, Mark brings his 17 years of digital marketing and SEO experience to Ayima as Senior Vice President for Ayima Canada. Focused on delivering exceptional results for the company’s leading North American clients, Mark and his team plan and implement technical SEO, CRO and organic audience-generation strategies that grow each brand’s online market share through a multi-channel approach. Mark’s lead on technical digital marketing has resulted in Ayima campaigns being showcased as best practice on numerous occasions in Canada.



Neil Dawson

Director of Data & Marketing - UK

Neil kicked-off his digital career in 2002 as one of the early members of Aviva’s ecommerce team. Responsible for both SEO & PPC, he grew their paid offering to one of the biggest in the UK. After working across both agency and consultancy side he joined Ayima in 2013 to start the company’s paid media offering. Neil is now our Data & Marketing Director where he leads Ayima’s data science product, Ayima Intelligence, while overseeing the global marketing strategy.



Peter O’Neill

Director of Analytics - UK

In 2006 Peter stumbled upon the world of digital analytics and discovered a passion. His passion is driven by a simple truth – used appropriately digital analytics can transform organisations, help managers make smarter decisions and impact performance.The look on clients’ faces at the point when they realise the power of analytics and insight is Peter’s catalyst. His frustration is that most companies still do not maximise the potential value from their digital analytics and he makes it his goal to change that state of events. As part of the Ayima Group, Peter combines both his passion and frustration to help clients analyse and achieve the greatest results through their data.



Michael Feiner

Director of Analytics - UK

Michael has accidentally fallen in love with digital analytics and conversion rate optimisation. That love affair is now 16 years old. Some would call it a relationship. It all started when Michael spotted a small ad in the Guardian by a Dutch company looking for a new business development manager to sell a weird new technology called web analytics. Michael applied and got the job. Turns out he was the only one to apply! His passion for digital and using data to improve performance has only grown since that decisive day. Now part of the Ayima Group, Michael continues to drive growth for the brand through analytics.
