Redirect chains, 302 redirects, 500 internal server errors etc.…all things that can have a significant impact on your site’s organic performance.

Little over 3 years ago we launched Redirect Path - a Chrome browser extension which went some way in helping you fix issues of this kind. The brainchild of our Head of Development, Dan Smith, Redirect Path has been a massive success with over 50,000 active users, becoming an essential tool in an SEOs and Web Developers arsenal. We’ve seen really positive feedback and many people we come across in the industry often tell us how valuable Redirect Path is in their everyday tasks - we’re genuinely flattered to receive such positive feedback.

Since its launch, Redirect Path has seen various tweaks, minor updates and a couple of re-skins. This is our first major technical update to the plugin, so we’re very excited to announce Redirect Path 2.0, which brings with it client side redirect detection – yep, Redirect Path can now detect JavaScript and Meta Redirects! Detecting HTTP status codes is one thing, detecting client side redirects is another, so hats off to Dan on finding an accurate solution that works really well.

You’ll notice from the screengrab above that we’ve added the ability to copy redirect chains to clipboard. This enables you to copy the plugin reports into another applications, such as Excel:

Pretty handy if you need to hand over redirect issues to the dev team for an ad-hoc fix.

Redirect Path 2.0 retains all the functionality from 1.0, so as well as reporting on HTTP status codes, the plugin also displays other HTTP Headers (such as server types, cookies, caching etc) and the server IP Address at the click of a button. As before, all the magic happens on your computer, so it doesn’t “phone home” to anyone (except when auto-updating itself) and is instantaneous.

To download, simply head over to the Chrome Store and click “Add to Chrome”. Enjoy!
