Ayima Redirect Path – Free Google Chrome extension

If you’re an SEO, part of a web development team, or maybe even a content manager and you want to find a redirect path of a link, look no further than Ayima’s Redirect Path. This free Chrome tool will help you understand redirect chains on any webpage.

What is Ayima Redirect Path?

Ayima’s Redirect Path tool is a free Google Chrome extension you can use to quickly check the individual redirect path of a URL. This handy plugin provides you with all the information you may need about domain redirects and where they may lead.

Flagging 301, 302, 404, and 500 HTTP Status Codes, our Redirect Path plugin brings attention to potential issues that may not otherwise be seen.

Server redirect checker

Redirect Path provides insights and a visual representation of the redirect in question. Details for each request URL are also provided so users can see:

  • 301 vs 302 redirects
  • HTTP to HTTPS redirect
  • Redirect chains with HTTP response headers and body.

Request headers

On top of already flagging redirects and errors, Redirect Path also displays other HTTP Headers such as:

  • Server types
  • X-Robots tag
  • Cookies
  • Caching
  • Server IP Address.

This is all extremely useful for those setting up or dealing with a server, and you receive every bit of info at the click of a button.

Client-side redirect checker

Ayima’s redirect checker also has client-side redirect detection. Redirect Path can detect:

  • JavaScript redirects and
  • Meta Redirects

Detecting HTTP status codes is one thing, detecting client-side redirects is another.

What other users are saying – Five-star reviews

“This might be my favorite extension. So valuable for not only looking at redirect paths, but also for inspecting the HTTP header. Even more valuable now with the JS and meta refresh redirect identification. Wish I could give it 6 stars.” Nate Plaunt, Thomson Reuters
“One of my favorite extensions. As a professional SEO, this tool is invaluable. I use it constantly – every day. Thanks. You guys are the best. The new Copy to Clipboard feature is great too. Keep up the great work!”. Nate Ford, Associate Director, SEO

Why download our redirect checker?

  • Free to use
  • Instantaneous
  • Simple to use
  • Developed by a leading global SEO agency
  • Trusted by over 200,000 users
  • Supported across different user agents

Why would I want to trace a redirect?

If you’re an SEO, you’ll know tracing and understanding redirects is a must. Other reasons to analyze or trace redirects include the ability to:

  • Detect malicious codes – some redirected URLs may contain malware or ransomware that can harm a device
  • Check website security – URLs may not be on a secure network (HTTPS)

As noted, you’ll notice we’ve added the ability to copy redirect chains to the clipboard. This enables you to copy the plugin reports into other applications, such as Excel, which is pretty handy if you need to provide a list of redirect issues to the dev team for an ad-hoc fix.

Albeit a quick way to check the server’s response, additional data displayed for each URL is also useful for those who handle servers more often than not, specifically those who work within the development team.

The story behind Ayima’s redirect checker

Redirect Path is the brainchild of our Head of Development, Dan Smith, and it aims to ensure that our SEOs have the most accurate and well-presented data available.

When checking redirects in the past, we always relied on Web Sniffer for HTTP headers and redirects. But back in 2012, we decided we didn’t want the SEOs at our agency to rely on third-party tools. With that, Ayima’s Redirect Path was born.

We felt it was too good to keep to ourselves, so we decided to offer it as a free Chrome extension for all SEOs to enjoy and to replace the need for Web Sniffer or other similar tools!
