Management Team
Our team all have a solid technical background but also have a certain level of personal obsession. To us, SEO is not simply a great way of exponentially increasing revenues and the ROI of an online business - it is a hobby, a community, a way of life!
Managing Director
Mike Jacobson comes from an unorthodox business and analytical background, working with everyone from dotcom startups to blue-chip banks and government agencies. Although still desperately trying to go a full twelve hours without having to take a nap on the sofa, and thinking Search referred to the hunt for the remote control, Mike is the commercial tour-de-force behind Ayima's stunning success.
Director of Operations
Mike Nott's first experience of Search was in 1984 at his elementary school science fair, where he resourcefully defied the odds to build a fully-functioning Search Engine out of lego. Mike was formerly head of the 25 person strong Search Marketing team at PartyGaming where he managed to lift PartyPoker out of the grave and straight to the very top of the table in the incredibly competitive online poker arena. Mike has been heavily involved in SEO for over 9 years and is the founder of the UK's largest SEO social group, the highly respected LondonSEO.
Head of Search
Born with a silver keyword in his mouth,
Rob Kerry is the wunderkind of the Ayima team. Better known to his peers as evilgreenmonkey, Rob is barely out of grade
school, yet is already a respected industry figure and a regular speaker at major events such as SES, SMX, Affiliates4u & PubCon. Rob is also the Editor of Danny Sullivan's internet marketing social news site Sphinn,
and a former Editor at Search Engine Watch. But he can usually be found at his local London pub, scoffing down pies and mash with a voracity that is truly astounding to the observer.
US Director
Tony "notsleepy" Spencer has been involved in SEO and website strategies ever since Al Gore invented the internet. Wearing "Ruby on Rails" branded vests under his shirts, he has a strong technical background as well as experience in managing and rolling out large web projects. His previous work has included consulting for major Fortune 500 corporations, as well as managing his own portfolio of sites. As Ayima's US Director, Tony manages clients that prefer the delights of Twinkies rather than deep fried Mars bars.
SEO Consultant
Jane Copland joined Ayima in January 2009 after spending the early part of her SEO career with SEOmoz in the United States. With a background in organic SEO and viral marketing, her arrival at Ayima has finally provided her with a reason to never leave the greater London area ever again. Despite officially retiring from blogging upon touchdown at Heathrow, Jane still attends and speaks at search marketing events, such as Pubcon and SMX. She can keep up with Rob for the first three pints, but is usually home by at least midnight.
SEO Consultant
Joining Ayima in 2008, Dean "Chewie" Chew is from a mysterious part of the United Kingdom called Up Norf. He has been working in web development and SEO for over ten years, beginning as a developer and moving to SEO in search of the perfect rank. Before working at Ayima, he worked as the Head of SEO at a large online mobile phone retailer, doubling traffic from organic search. Despite working wonders for his clients, Dean still looks forward to the day when Ayima signs-up a client in the hair care business. He likes football, beer, girls and gravy - often at the same time.
Director of Technology
Tim Webb is a Senior Developer & SEO, most recently with PartyGaming where he was responsible for all SEO-related back-end development as well as visitor tracking and data-mining systems. Tim has been a developer/programmer for 11 years and in SEO for 6 years. Always with a keen eye on financial issues, when Tim is not writing mind-bending Java code and scraping immense piles of data from the internet, he likes to sew and knit his own clothes in order to preserve his bank balance.
Head of Projects
Ekrum "Ekky" Ashgar is an integral part of Ayima's project management. Despite having to sit at the SEOs' table, he manages to ignore most of them in order to keep operations in order. Liaising with clients and managing Ayima's SEO reporting, Ekky is also in the unenviable position of sitting directly in line of the table tennis table, and frequently comes under fire during a particularly intense game. Before taking on the task of keeping Ayima's projects running properly, he worked at PartyGaming. He is known for his dislike of cheese and his inability to hail taxis in Seattle.
